We could not have made it this far in the pandemic without our essential workers, and I am honored to be endorsed by unions and union members who are among the hardest working people in the country. I have received four union endorsements, and I want to share with you why they are so important to me - and our community.
Members of the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East are essential to our community and deserve fair contracts and good working conditions. Workers at the Crossing Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Minoa (in District 10) are members of 1199SEIU.
The Greater Syracuse Labor Council, the local chapter of the AFL-CIO, fights for workers’ rights. They mobilize their members and the community to advocate for social and economic justice for all working people.
The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW) comprises over 600 unions and has 980,000 active and retired members. We are all experiencing the effects of foreign outsourcing right now, and that’s why products Made in America are so important (I am proud to drive a union-made car!).
Teamsters Local 317 represents truck drivers, warehouse workers, package delivery employees, public employees, bus drivers, dairy employees, clerical employees, mechanics and service employees. They believe that the best employment protection is the security of a union contract. It provides better wages, benefits and working conditions, and a voice in the workplace.
Support from these unions means a lot to me, as does support from you. Thank you!
